Company Story
Thrive Speech Pathology was opened to provide quality, family-centered therapeutic services to families in Chapel Hill and Durham. We focus on making therapy fun and meaningful for the child and their family.

Kelsey is a doctoral candidate, meaning she has advanced training in evaluating and using the latest evidence-based practices and is regularly immersed in the literature on the most effective therapy techniques.

Our Therapists

Kelsey Thompson
Owner, Speech Language Pathologist
Kelsey earned an accelerated Bachelor’s & Master’s Degree from Northeastern University in Speech-Language Pathology. She has worked in early intervention, school, and private practice settings. She has extensive experience working with children birth through 23 years with a variety of diagnoses including childhood apraxia of speech, autism spectrum disorder, Down Syndrome, ADHD, dyslexia, and rare genetic disorders. Kelsey also is skilled in meeting the needs of children with articulation/phonological and language delays.
Kelsey’s particular clinical love is pediatric feeding disorders. In addition to her clinical role at Thrive, Kelsey is a 4th year doctoral candidate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she studies new methods for preventing and treating feeding problems in children at the transition to solid foods.
Kelsey has completed numerous continuing education courses including PROMPT, the SOS Approach to Feeding, and Floortime. In 2022 Kelsey earned an Award for Continuing Education from the American Speech Language Hearing Association for completing over 70 hours of continuing education training from 2019-2022. Kelsey is licensed by the state of North Carolina and certified through the American Speech Language Hearing Association. Kelsey is also a member of the Dysphagia Research Society.
